Rodney & Sheri Kemp
Rev. Rodney Kemp realized God’s calling on his life in 2007 and was licensed to preach in 2008. After serving as a minister, he was later ordained as a reverend in 2015 under the leadership of Dr. David L. Roberson, retired pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan. At New Hope, Rev. Kemp faithfully served as a pulpit minister and spiritual leader, as he led both the men’s and young adult ministries of the church. As a true servant, he also helped in various other capacities where service was needed.
In 2021, God spoke to him once again, confirming it was his season to move forward. As founder and lead pastor, Rev. Kemp, along with his wife Sheri, established Freedom In Christ Ministry, an outwardly facing church that aims to break down the four walls to teach the Word of God, equip others to be disciples, and serve the community.
Rev. Kemp holds several degrees, including an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering technology from Purdue University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Wayne State University, and Master of Spiritual Formation and Discipleship from Moody Bible Institute. He has been happily married for 22 years to his lovely wife Sheri Kemp, who has been a faithful servant of God and holds true compassion and love for His people. Sheri has served in various ministries, including director of the Health & Healing Ministry, where she developed programs to educate and motivate the community about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and managing health challenges through prayer and the healing power of God. Sheri has served in various ministries, including Director of the Health & Healing Ministry, where she developed programs to educate and motivate the community about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and managing health challenges through prayer and the healing power of God. Sheri also served as the President of the Women of Hope Ministry, with a purpose to develop women spiritually through the Word of God, equipping them to become disciples. Moreover, she served as a church trustee and worked with the young adult ministry, along with her husband. Sheri became a certified biblical counselor in 2014 and teaches bible study, as she has always had the desire to help others. Sheri holds a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Purdue University, which has allowed her to connect and serve people in need throughout her career as registered nurse and social worker. She is currently pursuing a master's degree at Moody Theological Seminary.
Rev. Rodney and Sheri Kemp both love serving God, helping people, and engaging with the community. They are dedicated and committed to the call God has placed on their lives to minister His word. Through God’s direction and guidance, they are unwavering, devoted, faithful servants.
