Pastors Rodney and Sheri Kemp founded Freedom In Christ Ministry (FIC Ministry) in 2022. As an outward-facing church, FIC Ministry is committed to breaking beyond traditional church walls to teach the Word of God, equip others as disciples, and serve the community with love.

Pastor Rodney Kemp was licensed to preach in 2008 and ordained in 2015 under the leadership of Dr. David L. Roberson, retired pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan. During his time at New Hope, he faithfully served as a pulpit and spiritual leader, overseeing both the Men’s Ministry and Young Adult Ministry. Following God's vision, Pastor Rodney founded the Men 2.0 Next Level Manhood Ministry at FIC Ministry, a powerful initiative designed to create a supportive space for men to share their experiences, gain wisdom, and grow spiritually.

Pastor Rodney holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University, an MBA from Wayne State University, and a master’s degree of Spiritual Formation and Discipleship from Moody Bible Institute.

Pastor Sheri Kemp accepted her call to ministry in 2021 and was ordained that same year under Dr. Roberson’s leadership. She has served faithfully in various capacities, including Director of the Health & Healing Ministry, where she developed programs to educate and inspire the community on the importance of healthy living, prayer, and God’s healing power. She also led the Women of Hope Ministry, creating a space for women to grow spiritually and connect through the Word of God. Additionally, she served as a trustee and collaborated with her husband in the Young Adult Ministry.

Certified as a biblical counselor since 2014, Pastor Sheri works closely with individuals in need ministering with compassion and love. She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Purdue University and is both a registered nurse and social worker. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Moody Theological Seminary.

Married for 25 wonderful years, Pastors Rodney and Sheri are devoted servants of God. Their love for God, people, and community is at the heart of their ministry. Together, they remain steadfast in their calling to share the Gospel and lead others in faith and purpose.
